About this place
Descend the stairs into the basement of a building in Kita-Aoyama 3-chome, and an open space comes into view, with a large projector screen stretching across it. The bar and grill SPALTI has stadium-style tiered seating alongside tables and a counter. It’s a relaxed spot to enjoy a drink while watching the screen or sports.
Spiced grilled meats and well-chosen tapas
For a proper meal alongside your drinks, start with the grilled dishes. The lamb chops are coated in a secret spice blend, left to rest overnight and then grilled, bringing out a fragrant char and juicy flavour. They’re a popular choice. Other substantial options include a spicy chicken grill steak and an Iberico pork sausage platter with piquant chorizo—meaty dishes that pair naturally with beer or wine.
For a lighter spread, there are Italian mixed olives, jamón serrano and smoked oil sardines scented with dill. Add nachos with avocado dip or a cheese platter, and conversation over a drink can settle into an easy rhythm.
A relaxed bar for lingering into the night
To round things off, there’s a Margherita pizza with house-made tomato sauce and mozzarella, or Omotesando sauce yakisoba, substantial enough to make a meal of. For a sweet finish, try the house-made nama chocolate, made with 58% cacao chocolate, alongside whisky or a cocktail. On weekdays, SPALTI is open until 12:30 a.m. Book a table to watch a game with friends, or drop by for a drink at the counter—a dependable late-night perch.
